My name is Melanie, from a young age I can remember drawing on the sides of my tests in the second grade. To be exact, Sailor Moon and other 90's anime such as Digimon, Pokemon, and Yu-gi-Oh! are a massive influence in my art and life. Some other artistic influences include Pin-ups, Betty Boop, art nouveau, and Vivienne Westwood. Another love of mine is sewing, after seeing project runway I saw I could have my cake and eat it too. I went to Columbus College of Art & Design and graduated with my BFA in Fashion Design. I've spent the past 11 years sewing and designing professionally and drawing simply for fun. Although now I've decided to share my art work with others to spread fun, whimsical, and sassy sexiness. 

 

The name "Merani" was chosen since it's the katakana, from the Japanese alphabet, writing of my name Melanie. Not only is my artwork Japanese inspired but, yo girl is also Asian flavored (of Asian heritage just 1/4)! I thought it was fitting, due to the inspiration it has to my art, to give homage to my heritage and style in this way. 

 

Moving forward I'll be creating more art on various mediums, currently there are art prints, art on t-shirts available with more will be on the way! So stay tuned and may my art bring you joy and sassy!
